I made this painting at the request of Gagosian @ガゴシアン・ギャラリー for an art fair in Shanghai. It was an extremely challenging work. Small works like this one are many times harder than they look, and the process of finalizing the design until completion is really painful. In any case, I am glad and relieved to have completed this piece and that I was able to exhibit it.
After the opening of my solo show in San Francisco, I have had so many works to complete before the end of the year—for an art fair in Shanghai, a solo show at Perrotin @perrotin Shanghai, commissions that had stalled, as well as orders for an art fair in Miami, among others—that I have been suffering through the production day in and day out and had no mental space to spare.
That’s why I hadn’t been able to post much on Instagram for sometime, either.
Now that the HUBLOT @ウブロ events are also wrapping up, I am finally managing to start focusing on my Kyoto exhibition, which will open next February. I plan to start posting updates on my San Francisco exhibition @asianartmuseum as well.

この作品はガゴシアン @ガゴシアン・ギャラリー の上海でのアートフェア用に頼まれていた作品。滅茶苦茶大変な作品でした。こう言う小さい作品は、見た目の何倍も大変で、完成するまでの作画を詰めていくプロセスが本当に辛いです。なんにせよ作画が完了して、展示できて良かったです。ホッとしてます。

サンフランシスコでの個展がオープンの後、上海でのアートフェアや、ペロタン上海での個展やら、コミッションの詰まってたのやら、その後のマイアミのアートフェアへのオーダーなどで、年内にこなさねばならない作品を毎日毎日辛い日々を送ってて、精神的にゆとりが無かった。
なので、Instagramも投稿出来てませんでした。HUBLOTのイベントも終わってきてて、やっと、来年2月からの京都の展覧会の作品に突入でき始めてます。コレからサンフランシスコの展覧会の様子もアップしていこうと思います。
