It is an opportunity to reflect on Mr Lee’s political convictions and his special relationship with the unions. We have been strengthening the symbiosis between the @papsingapore and NTUC since our early nation-building days, and it is still vitally important. With the support of the tripartite partners, the PAP government will continue its pro-growth and pro-worker policies. We will keep the cost of living under control. In the long term, we will keep public service financially sustainable and of a high standard. And in the short term, households needing support will receive help to cope with the cost of living. At the same time, the Labour Movement must reinvent itself to stay relevant. NTUC will continue to upgrade and reskill workers, so that they stay employable. The PAP government will work closely with NTUC to address workers’ needs, champion their interests and improve their lives. Together, we can create a better future for our workers and for Singapore.
