In some Asian cultures the Asian bonytongue is seen as a symbol of prosperity and good luck, thanks to features that give it a slight resemblance to the revered Chinese dragon. While this fish is widely distributed throughout southeast Asia, it now faces threats due to habitat loss. They have also historically been harvested in large numbers by aquarium collectors, putting additional stress on wild populations. Photo taken @tennesseeaquarium.
