"My life has been defined by mountains." Tom Hornbein, the elder statesman of the Everest tribe, was 32 when he climbed the West Ridge with Willi Unseold. Their "over the top" traverse set the standard for adventure. Tom went on to a distinguished career in clinical anesthesiology.
