California's Malibu Pier was built in 1905 on a prime spot along the Pacific Coast Highway. The pier was once a WWII lookout post, movies (like "Gidget") have been filmed there and storm damage in 1995 closed it for over a decade. The restored pier reopened to the public in 2008 with several shops and restaurants and is a scenic spot to watch surfers catch waves at the adjacent Surfrider Beach. Photo by @packdsuitcase #travel
