Photo by @tylermetcalfe . I spent the morning on a very calm Wade Lake, watching these birds (Double-crested Cormorants) fly around and hunt. According to Wade Lake Cabins owner Dave Schmidt, these birds are relatively heavy, which prevents them from being able to take off quickly, resulting in the splashing you see here. However, their weight also allows them to dive for fish with ease, and move as elegantly underwater as they do above. #onassignment #inmontana #montanamoment
