Photo by @jonathankingston Standing sentinel on the northern tip of Admiralty Island near Juneau, Alaska, Point Retreat Lighthouse marks the border of Stephens Passage to its east and Chatham Strait to its west. After going unmanned for a number of years and falling into disrepair, the coast guard leased the lighthouse to the non-profit Alaska Lighthouse Association, who are now rehabilitating the grounds with plans to house a maritime museum and small bed-and-breakfast. According to the Capital City Weekly, Point Retreat is the only lighthouse in Southeast Alaska with a keeper who stays throughout the winter. #ngexpeditions #Juneau #Alaska #lighthouse #pointretreat #solitude
