Most travelers to Chile visit Patagonia, Atacama, or Easter Island, but I have a feeling this trend is going to change in the future. The Lakes District is becoming better known and is emerging as a hot destination. And for good reason! Everywhere you look it is simply breathtaking. Perfectly shaped volcanos rise high above glacially carved lakes surrounded by incredibly green land. Take the Italian Lakes District, throw in a little bit of Switzerland's grand mountain views, and add to that the warmth and charm of the South American People, and you get the Chilean Lakes District. Patagonia, watch out...there's a new game in town and it is awesome. In fact, I think most of Chile is pretty awesome. Taken on photo assignment for National Geographic Traveler Magazine.
