This celebration - the 'novice' ceremony where young boys are ordained into the Sangha - began in the morning with ornate costumes and decorated horse carriages, electric guitars and thundering brass drums played on the back of pickup trucks. In the afternoon, the boys each kneeled down to have their heads shaved, a symbol of letting go of attachment to the physical form.
