This one, Itsukushima Shrine in #Hiroshima #Japan is a "World Cultural Heritage Site" and "One of Japan's Best Views". Located in the Seto Inland Sea, its existence is a magnificent display of harmony between the island's untouched forests and the architecture's man-made beauty. A true Union of Man and God.
Designed by Taira no Kiyomori, a powerful lord in the 12th century, The way the Light (sun) meets the Mountain (earth) is embroidered by the delicacy of tides (water) as they come and go. When they go, the land is dry enough to walk out well beyond the Torii gate. When they come in, you may take a boat to worship the proper way, allowing the boat to deliver you to the shrine through the other side of the Torii gate.
From whence shall you worship?
How romantic, for only the Moon can tell the tides.
