I avoided Pride festivals for most of my life because I was ashamed of being gay. Even once I was out, I never imagined attending a Pride parade and certainly never marching in one. That all changed a few years ago but still, I never thought I would be named Grand Marshal and have a chance to speak! I'm incredibly humbled and honored that the Kentuckiana Pride Foundation chose me for their event this year. ---------------------------------------------------
I want to remind everyone out there who, like me, feels shame and fear at times, that it is possible to love yourself and celebrate who you are with pride. It takes time and patience but keep telling yourself that your life and your voice matter, and that living authentically is something we should celebrate. ❤️?
