I had the great fortune to witness a fantastic dance by the local Marau people while in the Solomon Islands. I've seen a lot of dances that are meant for tourists, and they mostly occur at big buffets where locals dance on a stage while visitors eat and watch from tables and benches. Not my favorite thing. But this experience was not that....it was the real deal. It was raining, there was no buffet (or food to speak of), there were no long benches setup, there was no stage....just pure expression of their local traditions. It was moving and beautiful. I snapped this during a pause in the action, and it turned out to be one of my favorite images from my time on these beautiful islands. Photo by @magnumji
