The Przewalski's horse was listed as extinct by the IUCN until 2008. SCBI is one of a few institutions around the world maintaining breeding populations that serve as a source of animals for reintroduction to the wild. In 2013, SCBI welcomed Christine, the first Przewalski's horse born as the result of an artificial insemination. That's seriously amazing.
