Despite his success as a songwriter, Scott Hansen, known to ambient electro lovers as Tycho (@tychomusic), sees himself less as a musician and more as a designer.
“I love bouncing back and forth,” he says. “I start to get bored of design when I work on it too long, and vice versa with music, so it’s kind of a perfect balance.”
The thing he appreciates most, though, is the creative freedom to make and do what he wants, like design flyers for his upcoming tour, or participate in a children’s DJ workshop.
“It’s just a really powerful thing to have full control over the way something is presented,” says Scott. “Even the music is designed for me.”
