Being able to fully isolate my glutes took me years to master.
My quads have always dominated all of my lower body movements, especially when I wasn't fully aware of the importance of having mind to muscle connection when lifting. Using slow and controlled movements, I was able to learn how to push through a muscle group in order to feel the exercise where it was meant to be felt. Having muscular control and mind to muscle connection are two of the greatest influencers in progress.
I love cable kickbacks, but often times, I'm able to lift much more weight just by the momentum and power that my legs exert. The problem is that this move should be felt predominately in the glutes, but naturally my thunders take over.
Incorporating the lateral bands in conjunction with heavy cable kickbacks helps me to isolate my glutes and eliminates the potential of lifting off of momentum. As you can see, my moves are much slower and controlled!
I find that I'm able to lift only about half of what I typically lift without the bands!
More isolation=more results!
Sometimes it's not about lifting a bunch of weight, but being able to target and connect with a particular muscle group in order to see results!
