@Wall Street Journal reporters @joeparkinson @drew.hinshaw and photographer @mkcoursin traveled to North Africa to write about a little-known but crucial aspect of the #migrant crisis: many people never make it. @joeparkinson writes: “This migrant squat in Rabat, Morocco, is called 'The Titanic' because it's large and full of travelers who might not make it. The 50 housemates squeezed into three rooms include multilingual university graduates, former army officers, and even a successful pop singer, who now dine nightly on 50-cent meals of eggs and stale bread. Some have been stuck here for years; robbed and tortured by smugglers, shunned by neighbors and sliced by barbed wire on border fencers they have tried to scale.” Follow @joeparkinson @drew.hinshaw and @mkcoursin for more.
