Isn't it wonderful that we set aside a day to celebrate the super bowls of world history? Made around 1735, this #SuperBowl boasts images of Königstein Fortress and Sonnenstein castle, both near Dresden, Germany.
What's inside? Another miniature landscape, probably imaginary, surrounded by elaborate scrollwork in purple and gold.
This "rinsing" bowl could have been used to take the last dregs of a beverage before a cup was rinsed and refilled. But it's is likely that a service of this kind was not much used in a practical sense, but put on display for admiration.
