This is our living history character, "Wheelwoman" Louise. With her bicycle Sylvia, an antique 1898 Reliance Model D, she speaks with visitors about the freedom she feels after learning how to ride the bicycle, which allowed women to travel freely and unescorted.
I often see young women in the museum make a real connection with Louise and her empowering story, reminding me of the power of museum theater.
