@JayDickmanPhoto Namibia is one of my favorite places on the continent of Africa. Formerly German South-West Africa, then South West Africa (officially changing the name to Namibia in 1968) Namibia officially became independent on March 21, 1990.
Home to the Namib Desert, the Skeleton Coast, the Etosha Pan, Damaraland, the Palmwag Concession, and Dr. Laurie Marker’s Cheetah Conservation Fund, Namibia provides an amazing blend of cultural, landscape and wildlife opportunities for the photographer.
I photographed this Masai giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis tippelskirchi) near Rhino Camp in the Palmwag Concession.
I’m leading two, weeklong National Geographic photography workshops this coming June, “Wyoming’s Cowboy Country”. If interested, check it out at the National Geographic Expeditions website, using that workshop name to search. A few spots still remaining!
The image was captured with an Olympus E-M1 with a 40-150mm Pro lens, with the Olympus MC-20 1.4 converter.
