Martin: “Where are you from, Amber?”
Amber: “ I’m originally from the east coast, Virginia Beach. I came over here to survive, we couldn’t survive the winters. We tried but…”
M: “Too cold out there?”
A: “Way too cold. We were probably gonna freeze to death.”
M: “How long have you been living on the streets then?”
A: “Seven years off and on… I was actually in my early twenties when I became homeless. My mother wanted me in at 7:00pm at night. So she didn't really want me to have a life. And me, I had just turned twenty-one so…You know how that is, being a rebellious kid so…But I don't think I'd trade the experience for anything in the world. It has humbled me…I ended up becoming homeless myself for love basically. I got up with my husband and they didn't really agree with the relationship very well. There's twelve years age difference. But I love him.”
M: “How long have you been married?”
A: “Five years. We were together for seven. So I usually say seven.” M: “Where do you guys get food then normally?”
A: “People usually just give us food. We hold us a hungry sign that says ‘hungry’ so we put ourselves out there.” .
