Women now make up almost 50% of the advertising industry, yet more than half a century after the “Mad Men” era, gender bias still affects how women are treated at work, whom they interact with and what positions they hold. To learn more, @ニューヨーク・タイムズ interviewed more than a dozen women, mostly executives, who work in advertising. The consensus: Many said they found it hard to believe how much their business still remained a white man’s world. The photographer @jessedittmar took this portrait of Rosemarie Ryan, a former co-president of @jwtworldwide who now leads the agency @thecocollective_. “There is a lot of sex and drugs and rock ’n’ roll in the business — there certainly was in those days,” Rosemarie said of her early career in the 1980s and 1990s. “I think there are still some remnants of that.” Visit the link to see more portraits and read the insights of female advertising executives.
