It's kit season and there are many new pet owners out there, that have just picked up their bundle of joy!! Many will believe that this little baby fox will love, love, love me- and will never bite me, or shark me- as we call it... Well, resource guarding and Food aggression can end up being a huge problem if not handled early on! It is never cute or funny when your animal bites or behaves aggressively towards you- regardless of age. We did not have any issues with food aggression or resource guarding with Sophie and Boris, our Russian domesticated foxes- so we did not have to extinguish this unwanted behavior. With Ishka, we started training her the moment we got her! It takes patience and consistency!! But the payoff is a respectful foxy baby, which has now turned into an adult fox that is respectful and does not bite! Every animal is slightly different, but we believe it is never acceptable that a pet attacks or bites. Social dominance does not equal punishment.
