Happy birthday to sculptor #LouiseNevelson, born on this day in 1899. Nevelson's monochromatic wooden assemblages alinged her with many contemporary artists who embraced found objects to create what has become known as Junk art. Nevelson's play of vertical and horizontal zigzags in "Luminous Zag: Night" (1971), create a complicated rhythmic pattern that appears to be inspired by jazz music and its emphasis on improvisiation within an established structure. #Guggenheim #Sculpture
