@yushkooksana photographed Olesya Mozolevsky, 35, wearing a homemade outfit. In 2014, Olesya and her husband started building guest houses along the Volga River in Russia. Today their land, which they call a “fairy village,” is a draw for tourists. The Mozolevskys are among a group of Russians who fled big city life to get back to the land – and basics – along the Volga River. “In the city you don’t really feel your life,” said @yushkooksana, who fled her own life as an accountant in Moscow to become a photographer. “When you move to the village you feel whole and you spend every second with nature and with great people. You work hard, eat healthier food, breathe fresh air and everything changes.” The river, a symbol of the Russian people, is a central character in @yushkooksana’s project, rendered through dreamy wide-format photos. Its residents are depicted in square images, like this one.
