Video by @Joel Sartore | A beautiful Chilean flamingo at the @gladysporterzoo in Brownsville, Texas. These birds cannot drink salt water. If they do ingest some with their food, they can excrete excess salt through specialized glands in their nostrils. To get enough water these flamingos drink from freshwater springs and puddles. They even have the ability to absorb rainwater through their feathers!
