#Fats on fats on fats! ? Tag someone who is afraid of eating them! If you're feeling lost with your diet you're not alone but the bottom line is that fat does NOT make you fat! Everyone's body is different but for the majority of us fats can actually help us reach optimal body composition. (If you're a vegetarian or vegan you will need to carb it up though!) For ME (personally....ME) I do eat more fats than carbs. I do not eat a ketogenic diet and I do not eat "low carb" but the majority of my carbs actually come from fruit! Cholesterol which comes with fat is used to make hormones. More fat = hormonal balance of androgens = reduced inflammation. A big mistake people make is eliminating fats because they tend to replace it with starch and sugar which are nutrient-poor calories. As many of you know, I don't believe in counting calories for this reason. Most things that are low in calories hold little to no nutritional benefit! Why do so many people think fat is bad for you and can cause heart attacks? Decades ago there was a study done examining heart risk and dietary habits. It did show that countries where people ate more fat had more cases of heart disease and thus it was believed that fat caused the disease. The problem with this is that just because high fat intake and heart disease were higher among a population doesn't mean the heart disease was CAUSED by the fat consumption. Look at it like this....everyday you wake up and the sun comes up but although these happen at the same time it doesn't mean that you waking up CAUSES the sun to come up!
