"He was my only child, my only biological child. I raised Benjamin to do good," writes Glenda Torres. "You expect to see the fruits of your labor. He was maturing. He was going to school. He had found out he had a son, so he was really motivated to do right by him, because his own father wasn’t in his life. So you saw him grow into a young man, and then he was taken . . . for no reason. And it doesn’t go away. So you just learn to live with this missing piece of yourself.
