Black and rufous elephant shrews are found in woodlands and scrub areas of Africa. They rely highly on their sense of smell to forage for food and, just like a rabbit, their noses are constantly wiggling. Much of the biology of the black and rufous elephant shrew is a mystery. However, it may be similar to most elephant shrews in that they’re monogamous. Throughout their territory, the pair will use leaves to build up to ten nests to live in.
