"I guess astronauts training here says it all," Dutch photographer Pie Aerts (@pie_aerts), who made this picture, says of Iceland. In the late 1960s, NASA arranged geology field training for astronauts on the island. "Welcome to Mars."⠀

A recent report by the European Travel Commission named Iceland as Europe’s fastest growing tourist destination. Tourism there has increased steadily, bringing in 1.8 million visitors last year.⠀
