@frostjeff has spent years chasing wildfires on the West Coast, like the Rough Fire in California's Sequoia National Forest in August 2015, for his film California on Fire. The non-narrative film will look at the role climate change plays in the increasing frequency and intensity of wildfires. Frost has shot more than 300,000 images at more than 40 forest fires, which he has combined into 500 timelapses, including a new set from the latest spate of fires in Northern California. This blaze in particular was a rare example of a natural fire in California, caused by a lightning strike. Only one in 20 wildfires nationwide occur due to natural causes. To get this shot, Frost slept in the back of his truck all night while his cameras clicked away until their batteries expired just before the sun came up. Watch more on TIME.com.
