Hey Mama, stressing about the holidays? Let me share a few tips that have saved me! You’ll recognize some of these from past blog postings, but sometimes we need a friendly reminder to look after ourselves, especially during this beautiful but often chaotic season. And very important as well is to give yourself permission and know that it’s OK to do so. Even as I write this, I’m really digesting it too! This one is a huge stress saver: 1️⃣ It’s OK to say “no”. We get swamped with invitations left and right. For the kids, for yourself, for you and your partner, it can become overwhelming. This is supposed to be a fun time, family time, sharing, relaxing! If you don’t say “yes” to every invitation that comes through your inbox and you get very selective, you will be so relieved. Strip it down to the absolute musts and those you really want to accept. 2️⃣ Schedule getting to the gym to take a class or get outside for a walk. Endorphins are great for relieving stress, and remember, if you’re feeling good, you will exude that energy, which the whole family will benefit from. 3️⃣ Try to get your holiday shopping done online! Malls can be stressful this time of year as you know 4️⃣ Practice gratitude. Everyday think about 2-3 things you are grateful for. It’s easy to just get into that mindset of “I can’t wait till this is over”. Instead, take a few seconds to remember how blessed we are, gratitude is a self-perpetuating cycle. The more gratitude you practice, the more attuned you are to things to be grateful for, and the more benefit you find from it. 5️⃣ Turn your phone off for a few hours. Yeah, try it, it’s so LIBERATING! If your loved ones are home safe and sound then you don’t need your phone glued to your hip. 6️⃣ Take a long hot shower or bath to wash away the stress of the day. Set your intention the minute you get in the tub or shower that this is your time to relax and/or recharge. Last tip: 7️⃣ Make a big bowl of popcorn, curl up on the sofa, and watch one of your favorite holiday movies! You know, like Die Hard ???‍♀️ Any more to add?
