I’m starting a new tradition with my kids: we’re making these sweet handprint souvenirs every year. What kid doesn’t love to compare their hand size annually?! ?? So, here’s the salt dough recipe you’ll need to create this memento! Ingredients: 4 cups all-purpose flour, 1 cup of salt, 1.5 cups of water and Mod Podge for a clear glaze. Directions: 1️⃣ Preheat your oven to 200 degrees F 2️⃣ Combine all of your ingredients and knead for 10 minutes. If your dough seems too dry (like mine was), add a little bit more water then continue to knead. This also makes plenty of dough, so I split mine into thirds to make it easier to knead 3️⃣ Roll out the dough to a thickness that you'd like your salt dough ornament to be 4️⃣ Press your child’s hand firmly into the dough and cut around the handprint 5️⃣ Bake for 1-2 hours. If your ornaments are still doughy (and most likely it will be,) continue to bake for another hour. The thickness of your dough will determine how long you’ll need to bake it. Thinner ornaments will take less time. *If it still feels doughy, let it sit out overnight to harden, that’s what I had to do and it harden up over time 6️⃣ Once cooled, paint and let dry 7️⃣ Spray with a clear glaze or finish with Mod Podge. Tip: Don’t forget to add the year to the back of your keepsake! Tip: you can turn these into ornaments but I would suggest that for ages 3 and below. I tried doing it with Mabel’s but it was too heavy. Evelyn’s hung nicely though! ??? Head to my story to see us make these! #nofussmama #keepsakes
