Before I start thinking about the new year, I like to look back and reflect on the previous one. All experience, whether deemed good or bad, is knowledge. We must reflect on and learn from our lives, so we can better navigate the future.

One of the things I learned in 2017 is this:

Don’t expect others to understand your drive when they haven’t been given your vision.
Every person is entirely unique and different. We all have different values, different perspectives, different motives. You must be authentic, follow your heart, and take disparity with grace.
Not everyone is like you, and you must not expect them to be like you. Even if you think your way of living is better, or could benefit them.
Be fiercely yourself, and love others for who they are, not who you want them to be.
