Above it in big bold print were the words: “I am with you”. As some of you know, I have a twin sister. Her name is Samantha. She was beautiful and she was my best friend. She passed away when we were 19 years old. I don’t talk about her much, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t on my mind. Bob Goff and his words stirred up something in me. His book talks about the unbounded power of love, and how it is best expressed through daily action. I often wish I could simply tell Sam how much I love her, and realized - I still can. It’s never too late for love. People will come and go in our lives, but our love for them can be expressed all the same. It continues to hold the same power and potential for impact. It is my goal to start sharing more of Sam. She was incredibly talented, smart, artistic, and in tune with the deeper currents of life, and I think many of you could benefit from getting to know her too. Her work deserves to be celebrated. Mental health is a prevalent issue in our current age, yet stigmatized and difficult to talk about. It is my hope to normalize the discussion, show that strength lies in vulnerability, and help others find acceptance through our story. You are perfect as you are. If I could talk to Sam now, I would tell her that I am proud to call her my twin sister. She had her struggles, but we all do, and I love her exactly as she is. I will always love her no matter what.
