A heated 🔥 Friday flow with @sohoyoga.
I do hot yoga 2-3 times per week.
It is one of my secret weapons for recovery, injury prevention, & mental edge.

I’ve heard some elite athletes say that of all the grueling training they do, hot yoga is perhaps the most challenging. You literally cook yourself while balancing precariously in intense isometric poses. But, it is the conquering of this discomfort that builds you up and makes you more resilient. Plus, there’s the benefits of heat shock proteins.

The healthy function of our cells can be disrupted by injury or illness. But when you expose your cells to the heated environment of a sauna or hot tub, HSPs come out into the open in greater quantities than usual. Soon, they are hard at work reorganizing, stabilizing, and revitalizing your cells from the inside out.
Think of them as a road crew called into action when a piece of a street needs repair. HSPs are there putting up the caution tape, directing traffic, and reconstructing the damaged area among the other moving components of the cell. When their job is done, the cell is primed for healthier growth and survival.

Studies have also shown that whole-body heat stress triggers some of the physiologic responses observed with exercise. Which means that you can get some of the same benefits of cardio without actually doing cardio.
