When I told someone recently that I was feeling vulnerable, they got confused. The reply was that I always seem strong. I had just laid my soul bare in a conversation and I guess it wasn’t evident that I was on the verge of cracking. I feel more sensitive than usual lately, like a piece of myself that I’ve known is gone and I can’t find it no matter where I look. And yet here I am, somehow more myself and less myself at the same time. Maybe that piece I’m looking for it something I needed to let go of, maybe it’s a romantic version of the past that I’m hesitating to turn the page on.

Strength doesn’t always look like a dog fight where the winner is bigger and badder. Sometimes strength is quiet and forgiving.
