We went mountaineering ? I could not have described it better than @joshlrsn (repost) ?‍♀️: ••• Mount Aspiring / Tititea sits at 3,033 meters. Snow topped with technical and very exposed climbing to reach it. • Charlotte and I geared up last week after New Years and headed off for the long journey. • Day 1: 5 Hours of pedestrian-like hiking led us to a bivy (rock cave) for the night. • Day 2: We had an epic. We spent 13 hours lost in thick fog, rain and wind in the mountains. We couldn't see 2 meters in any direction. It makes knowing where to go very hard. Especially on a 1200 meter tall, wet slab. Once we found a way through, it was a long and blind 4 hour hike across the Bonar Glacier while jumping over more than 50 crevasses and finally seeing the Colin Todd hut way up on a ridge. A hike that should have taken 5 hours if you were on the right route without fog. Eat and sleep. • Day 3: We woke up at 4am to 80km/h winds and decided to wait it out. Ate food, played cribbage. 3:30pm with a good weather window and plenty of daylight - we heading for the summit. Up and back in 6h45m. Descending with the setting sun along the ridge. Memorable. • Day 4: Made coffee and watched the sunrise. Hiked back to the car in 8h55m and found our beers still under a rock in the river next to the car. We were Wrecked. #summitordeath they say. • Thanks to our homies we met along the way! • @petzl_official @gramicci #AWorldLessTraveled #accesstheinaccessible #petzlteam #petzlgram #livefree #betheadventure #startsomewhere
