Meet Urvashi, an Indian leopard photographed at Kamla Nehru Zoological Garden in Ahmedabad, India. Her name, translated from Sanskrit, means ‘one who controls the heart’. As their home country becomes more and more populated, these beautiful leopards are suffering from habitat loss as well as poaching and are now considered Vulnerable on the IUCN list. Although Urvashi was considered a threat to the humans who lived within her habitat, she was not persecuted, but instead brought in to the facility to be cared for.
