I’ve just met Lilian Dawa. She lost her first husband in the South Sudan conflict in 2014 and now lives with her two children here in Bidi Bidi, Uganda, one of the world’s largest refugee settlements.
I asked her what she’d like to share with the world. “We must build the capacity of women,” she told me. It’s clear Lilian is doing exactly that. She works at @theirc’s women’s center helping other women recover from the trauma of gender-based violence.

Kathryn suggested that perhaps women should run the world. “Amen,” said Lilian.

Lilian is a gifted teacher, and an extraordinary mother. I feel privileged to have met her.
