Video by @ifyozoma // National Parks are fantastic, but if you find yourself needing more peace and quiet, and you're in search of public lands (where you can bring Fido along!), open up a map and look for the nearest Bureau of Land Management (BLM) spaces. BLM areas like the Alabama Hills are treasures set aside for those looking for a slightly more rustic experience outdoors. BUT, please don't head out to public lands that don't have facilities (most BLM areas do not have the "modern conveniences" of National Parks) if you aren't prepared to carry in your water, food, gas (sometimes), and carry out any and all waste you produce or find.
