Photo by @FransLanting “March of the Penguins” A stoic procession of emperor penguins is making its way back to open water after doing duty as parents sheltering newborn chicks under frigid conditions on the sea ice off Antarctica. Open water can be more than 60 miles away, and it may take them days to get there. Everything about the lives of emperor penguins is extreme. In order to capture any of it, you have to succumb to the same conditions that they endure. But what a privilege it is to spend time with these amazing birds. Follow me @FransLanting and @ChristineEckstrom for more images of emperor penguins.
