Photos by @renan_ozturk // Such an honor to be present and learn from the tribes at the @protectbearsears intertribal Summer Gathering this past weekend. There is so much to understand from the Native perspective that will propel the conversation about public lands forward! ~ @alastairbitsoi (Alastair Bitsóí) of the Diné tribe (and communications director of @protectbearsears) offered this : “Bears Ears is healing as you can see from this weekend. The native culture of Bears Ears region is real and alive. The people of the Lummi nation brought the Bear Totem, they are from the Salish Sea fighting for their own environment. Having the people of the sea meet the tribes of the Bears Ears region is powerful, we are merging together for a bigger healing output, so to speak. My personal testimony is that this place has healed me physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It’s medicine and that’s what this event is all about. The Diné, Hopi, Ute, Zuni, Acoma, Lummi and you...all have connection here.” ~
