For everyone following my story and asking why my kids hate camp... Harlow hates it because she hates being dropped off at pretty much anything. Mazzy is a different story. She was actually really looking forward to camp this year, and even fought me on putting her in a few specialized camps throughout the summer because she didn’t want to miss any days at her regular day camp. But now, a lot of the girls she thought would be there from previous summers aren’t there and her group is very small with mostly boys. It’s just not as fun as she remembers and it’s breaking my heart to see my overly enthusiastic up for anything kid feel genuine disappointment. I think she is feeling the sting of getting older and things changing, even though she wasn’t really ready to move on yet. The good news is— she met someone new yesterday and is now excited about next week at camp. Also, I had signed her up for a week of stop motion camp in the middle of August against her wishes. She was fighting me hard about it, but now she is welcoming the opportunity to try something different. Growing up is hard. #thebigkidyears
