A few nights ago when the clouds filtered the full moon just enough to balance the light with the foreground and the rising Mars over the ocean (middle right). The second slide is taken a few minutes earlier in the dusk. Watch Mars the next nights during its brightest and closest to Earth in 15 years. In this view it looks faint due to my short exposure for the moon but the Red Planet appears dazzling now, rising at dusk and setting at dawn. After Moon and Venus it is currently the night sky’s brightest object.
