Singapore is only 53 years old. But Internal Security Department’s history goes back much further. Last night, we celebrated its 70th Anniversary.

Until the 1960s, ISD played a critical role countering the Communist threat. Nowadays, Singapore faces new and dangerous threats, in particular terrorism and cyberwarfare. ISD’s vigilance and steadfast efforts have kept us safe. It has built a formidable reputation of competence and credibility. I was proud to meet the courageous men and women who work tirelessly behind the scenes to protect our internal security and stability.

Thank you to all past and present ISD officers for your contributions and selfless dedication. Our thanks to your families too, who have also made sacrifices for you to do your job well.
