How do you adapt a story about a sword-wielding teen heroine and her group of superpowered pals for 2018? Noelle Stevenson has an idea. She’s reimagining “She-Ra,” the campy 1980s cartoon, for another era. In the original, nearly every heroine was the exact same size and shape, almost all white, with matching faces and swimsuit-model bodies. In the new series, which debuts today, Nov. 13, on @ネットフリックス, the voice cast is as diverse as the characters they play. In the male-oriented animation industry, @dreamworksshera is taking additional diverse steps: The show has one male actor on the regular voice cast and an all-female writers’ room. “It’s been such a treat,” said Josie Campbell, a story editor. “Every one of our writers is so strong, and we’re all a bunch of geeks.” @jessierocks took this photo of Noelle.
