It will eat carrion, steal fish from other birds, or hunt for its own by swooping down and grabbing fish near the surface of a lake or stream. While fish are a bald eagle’s favorite snack, it won’t shy away from other options like waterfowl, squirrels, prairie dogs, raccoons, and rabbits.
