The thorny round stingray is a species of fish that can be found off the coast of over ten Central and South American countries. Like many stingrays, very little is known about its conservation status, but as a creature that lives in the open ocean, it is safe to say it is impacted by plastic pollution, chemical runoff, and overfishing. What actions do you take to reduce your impact on our oceans? Use the comments section to share how you’re taking action to save marine species! Photo taken @aquariumdenver

In Jamaica it is a problem of educating people not to use and throw plastic in the sea. So the government has baned the use of black platic bags called here "scandal bags". It is a good start.people are more aware that they have to use their own reusable bags to do their groceries. Its the biggest step ever taken as it touches every person on the island. As a fisherman, i used to have people fishing in my boat and the first thing i tell them is not to throw anything overboard. In the past everything used to be dashed overboard. No longer.

I buy shampoo/conditioner/body wash bars from @ethiqueworld, which are amazing and are so great for reducing your impact on the world, no single use plastic bags, reducing until I can eradicate anything bought in plastic, taking home meals for lunch in reusable glass containers, walking more and driving less, less food waste, and recycle/compost anything and everything I can.

I carry my stainless steel straws and re-fillable water bottles everywhere, even when traveling. I just purchased a filter for my washing machine to filter out micro-plastics resulting from synthetic plastics from the wash water. When possible, I use my own cup at coffee shops! 👍🏽🌊🐋🐬🦑🐠🐡😎

When traveling and indulging in local street food we've taken to using our own reusable plates and cutlery rather than accept food on Styrofoam/single-use plastic materials... But you gotta be quick!

We still need to find how to recycle all those bails of collected plastic waste that can’t be re-used nor formed into pellets. Need new technologies....algae that can digest plastic??
