For #NationalSiblingsDay we couldn’t resist sharing these marionettes inspired by real life sister performing duo: The Dolly Sisters.
Identical twins Rózsika "Rose" Deutsch and Janka "Jenny" Deutsch immigrated from Hungary to America, where they made a name for themselves on the vaudeville and Broadway stage. (Swipe ➡️ to see Ziegfeld Follies sheet music featuring the sisters.) Known for their lavish costumes and an outlandish lifestyle, the sisters became a social phenomenon. They moved to Europe, where they were courted by millionaires and royalty.
Puppeteer Donald Cordry created these marionettes based on the sisters in 1931.
