Inside PS1's courtyard dome, the trio assembled a cast of friends and collaborators to perform karaoke tunes in costumes loosely inspired by characters in The Wizard of Oz. Between two performances that day, PS1 estimates that more than 500 people witnessed the Vaqueraoke. “It was really just exploring what a play can be,” said Taubensee of the experience. “This was presented as a play, but it was karaoke as a play.” It’s nice to examine what a fashion show can be,” added DiCaprio. “It doesn’t need to just be a runway show. What makes a fashion show a fashion show? What makes a play a play? It doesn’t really matter. Is this about music or fashion or performance?” He continued, "It's about everything."
